You have leads sitting in your CRM you have not spoken to in six months.
You know it. You just do not want to open the folder and count them.
AI follow up for realtors fixes one very specific part of that problem, and it is not the part most people try to sell you on.
AI is not going to build the relationship for you. It removes the reason you stopped following up in the first place, which is that writing six good messages takes ninety minutes you never have.
Why Your Follow-Up Dies After Touch Two
Most agents are excellent at the first two touches.
You call, you text, you send a few properties, and it feels productive.
Then day four arrives and you have nothing new to say, so you skip it.
Day seven arrives and now it feels awkward, because you went quiet, so you skip that one too.
The lead did not go cold because they lost interest.
The lead went cold because you ran out of material.
That is a content problem, not a motivation problem, and content problems are exactly what AI is good at solving.
AI follow up for realtors is really just a way to stop running out of material.
The Business Case for AI Follow Up for Realtors
Here is the math I run with clients before they spend a single minute on this.
Writing a six touch sequence by hand takes about ninety minutes if you want it to actually sound like you.
Building the same thing with AI takes about twenty minutes, including the edit.
That is seventy minutes back one time, and then the asset works for every single lead who enters that bucket from now on.
Now put a number on the other side of the ledger.
Pull forty leads you have gone quiet on.
If that sequence wakes up three of them, and one of those three lists with you at a nine thousand dollar commission, you just earned nine thousand dollars for twenty minutes of setup.
The sequence does not need to be brilliant. It needs to exist.
The rest of the industry has already made this call for you. In the 2026 Delta Media Real Estate AI and Leadership Survey, the share of brokerages with no plans to adopt AI fell to 1.9 percent, down from 4 percent in 2025 and 10.6 percent in 2024.
Being the last agent who writes every follow-up message from scratch is not a competitive advantage.
It is just slower.
Remember that you only have two jobs, lead generation and lead conversion, and follow-up sits squarely inside the second one.

Build Your 14-Day Sequence in 20 Minutes
Setting up AI follow up for realtors takes one sitting, and you only do it once per lead type.
This is the exact order I want you to work in, because steps two and four are the ones agents skip.
- Pick one bucket. Not “all my leads.” Buyer leads who went quiet after a showing, past clients hitting year three, open house sign-ins from last month. One bucket, one sequence.
- Feed the AI your context. Give it your city, your average price point, a one sentence description of the bucket, and three messages you have actually sent that got a reply. This is the step everyone skips, and it is the reason most AI output reads like a stranger wrote it.
- Run the prompt below. Give it the whole thing at once, constraints included.
- Cut anything that makes a promise. Delete any line that predicts a price, guarantees a timeline, or quotes a market statistic. Those are the lines that get you in trouble.
- Rewrite the first and last message yourself. Those two carry the most weight, and your voice needs to be unmistakable on both.
- Load it into your CRM as a template. If it lives in a Google Doc, it is not a system, it is a document.
You are helping a real estate agent in [city] write a 14 day follow-up sequence for [one sentence description of the bucket]. Write 6 messages, sent on day 1, 3, 6, 9, 12 and 14. Alternate between text and email. Every text is under 40 words. Every email is under 120 words. No market predictions, no statistics, no guarantees. Every message must either give something useful or ask one specific question. Match the tone of these three messages I have actually sent: [paste them]
Read that prompt closely, because the constraints are doing the work, not the request.
The word limits stop the AI from writing paragraphs nobody reads, and the ban on statistics stops it from inventing a number you would have to defend.
That is the whole trick to AI follow up for realtors: you are not asking for creativity, you are handing over a set of rules.
I pulled apart the anatomy of a prompt like this line by line in this breakdown of the prompt that builds tomorrow’s call list.
What AI Should Never Touch in Your Follow-Up
Here is where I part ways with most of what gets sold to agents.
AI should write your follow-up sequence.
AI should not send it unsupervised, and it should never answer a live client question before you have read the answer.
The reason is simple.
A sequence is an asset you review once and control forever.
A live AI reply is a message you have never seen, going to a client who believes it came from you.
One of those is a system. The other is a liability with your licence attached to it.
So set the rule today: AI drafts, you approve, your CRM delivers.
That one rule is the difference between AI follow up for realtors that builds your business and the version that earns you a complaint.
Now let me give you honest expectations on the numbers.
Say you load forty buyer leads who went quiet after a single showing.
A sequence like this wakes up a handful, not a flood.
If four reply, two turn out to still be looking, and one buys this year, that is one deal built off twenty minutes of setup.
The other thirty-six ignore you completely, and that is the number nobody puts in a case study.
Go in expecting that, and you will keep running sequences instead of quitting after the first one underwhelms you.

Questions Realtors Ask About AI Follow-Up
These are the three questions I get every single time I teach AI follow up for realtors.
Does AI follow up for realtors actually work?
It works when AI writes the sequence and a human controls the delivery. AI is reliable at producing six well structured messages in twenty minutes. It is not reliable at judging when one specific client is ready to hear from you. Use it for the asset, not the judgment.
How many messages should a follow-up sequence have?
Six messages across fourteen days is the range that works for most agent databases. Fewer than four and you quit before most people have responded. More than eight in two weeks and you read as desperate rather than helpful.
Will clients be able to tell that AI wrote it?
They will if you skip the editing step. AI copies structure well and voice poorly, so the fix is to feed it three messages you have genuinely sent and then rewrite the first and last message in your own words.
What to Do Today
Three actions, and all three fit inside one afternoon.
- Open your CRM and count the leads you have not contacted in ninety days. Just get the number. Do not fix anything yet.
- Pick the single biggest bucket in that list and write one sentence describing who those people are.
- Run the prompt above, edit the output for twenty minutes, and load the six messages into your CRM as a template.
That is it.
You are not building a machine today.
You are building one asset that stops your follow-up from dying on day four, which is the entire point of AI follow up for realtors.
